My Story
I didn’t become a menopause coach because it was in my textbooks. As a Holistic Naturopath I understood the physiology — I knew what estrogen was doing, I understood the shifts on paper. But none of the generic information, the leaflets, the articles, the symptom lists… explained the depth of what I was experiencing.
So, I didn’t step into this work solely because I studied menopause I stepped into it because I lived the parts no one talks about — menopause itself did not make me lose myself; what nearly broke me was navigating complex PTSD (CPTSD) caused by loss and trauma at the very same time my hormones were shifting.
Unfortunately, at the time, I didn’t make the connection — I was simply trying to survive everything that was happening all at once. I was navigating profound loss, adapting to widowhood and being a newly single mother under immense pressure, rebuilding my life from the ground up. I wasn’t just moving through perimenopause. I was carrying cumulative life stress that had fundamentally altered my nervous system. And I didn’t yet understand how deeply trauma and hormonal change were interacting inside my body.
Trauma does not simply live in memory — it reshapes the body. Over time, it alters the neuroendocrine system, disrupts stress regulation, fuels chronic inflammation, and destabilises metabolic balance. The nervous system adapts in order to survive — but that survival mode comes at a cost.
When midlife reduces the hormonal buffering that once softened stress responses, that cost becomes harder to hide. What was once compensated for quietly begins to surface.
Symptoms intensify. Emotions feel closer to the edge. Sleep fragments. Anxiety sharpens. Exhaustion deepens. Not because you are failing. But because the body can no longer mask what it has been carrying.
Yet the information we’re given is generic — hot flushes, mood swings, irregular periods, maybe some weight gain. What’s rarely discussed is the body–mind connection — how stress, trauma, identity shifts, and emotional load shape the menopausal experience.
We’re not told that when a woman is carrying grief… chronic stress… emotional overload… relationship strain… or years of unprocessed trauma, menopause doesn’t always arrive gently.
It arrives like an uninvited guest — loud, disruptive, and messy — spilling into every corner of your life, leaving you wondering how you will ever find your way through.
And believe me when I tell you, there were moments when I genuinely didn’t know how I was going to keep going. My energy disappeared.
My sleep unravelled.
Night sweats were relentless.
My weight crept up no matter how disciplined I was.
I was anxious. Overwhelmed. Emotionally exhausted. Lost in a way I had never experienced before.
Yet in the middle of the chaos, something began to become clear. Drawing on my background in metaphysical sciences and naturopathy, I started to see the truth. Patterns began to emerge. The dots started to connect. I began to understand that it wasn’t just estrogen — menopause is far more than fluctuating and declining hormones.
Yes, shifting estrogen and progesterone levels absolutely play a role. And yes, hormonal fluctuation and eventual decline affect how you feel and contribute to symptoms.
That part matters.
However, hormones are not acting in isolation — they are interacting with your metabolism, immune system, nervous system, gut, stress response, detox pathways, inflammatory load, and even your emotional and energetic landscape all at the same time. This is why menopause cannot be reduced to a single hormone problem or a simple deficiency narrative — it is a whole-system, whole-woman transition, including the metaphysical dimension of your life.
And this is where the real reframe begins.
Menopause is also a revealer.
It doesn’t simply change the hormonal environment.
It exposes what the body has been compensating for all along. Even though I had survived experiences far more intense than menopause itself, this phase shook my confidence in a way I didn’t expect — because it hit when my physiological resilience was already depleted.
I looked in the mirror and didn’t quite recognise the woman looking back. I felt like I was unravelling. Not because menopause was the enemy — but because trauma and chronic stress amplify menopausal symptoms. Because trauma is not just remembered; it is embodied. It is not only psychological — it is neurobiological. It is stored in the nervous system, in stress chemistry, in physiology.
Because the body keeps score.
And sometimes, when the score becomes too loud to ignore, as in my case, life forces you to listen.
When life layers responsibility, grief, and reinvention all at once, autopilot ends. The illusions fall away. What we’ve been holding together through discipline alone can no longer stay hidden. In that sense midlife didn’t destroy me — it exposed where I was exhausted, where I had been compensating, where my nervous system had been surviving instead of thriving. And that revelation became my work.
So, I leaned in.
I went beyond the surface explanations and dove deeply into the science of midlife physiology and psychology — and into the metaphysical dimension of this transition — not just to understand menopause, but to understand the whole woman experiencing it. I wanted real answers. Not symptom lists. Not generic advice.
I studied the hormonal transitions, the metabolic shifts, the nervous system recalibration, and the profound ways stress, inflammation, blood sugar instability, trauma, and emotional load intersect during this stage of life. I explored the body–mind connection and — how identity, purpose, and stored life experience surface at midlife.
Knowledge became power. And with that knowledge, I stopped fighting my body — and began working with it.
That changed everything.
I am not the same person I was before trauma and menopause intersected in my life — and I don’t wish to be. That season exposed me, stretched me, and ultimately rebuilt me.
I won’t pretend it was easy. It wasn’t. Navigating two life-changing experiences at the same time took my breath away. But underneath the mess and the chaos, there is often something surprisingly beautiful waiting.
Not immediately. Not obviously. But it’s there.
You find strength you didn’t know you had. You begin to discover a deeper, more authentic version of yourself — one not shaped by survival alone, but by awareness. You build a kind of resilience that no book or podcast could ever teach you. You learn how to rebuild — not just your life, but yourself.
And maybe that’s the real gift. The version of you who emerges after the storm isn’t the same as the one who walked into it.
I am wiser. Softer in some places. Stronger and more assertive in others. More compassionate. More real. More empowered.
From my journey through menopause — and through the lived experience, research, and deep study that followed — the Radiance Revolution Menopause Academy was born. I created it as a space where women could feel seen, not dismissed… educated, not overwhelmed… supported, not judged.
Because menopause is not a malfunction. It is a transition. A recalibration. A powerful reorientation of who you are becoming.
My story may not be your story. Your journey will be uniquely your own and may look very different — but your experience is just as valid.
This was my path, and it brought me here — to a place where I can now hold space, share knowledge, and walk alongside other women as they navigate theirs.
So, if you are in the middle of a crisis right now, hear this clearly:
You are not broken. You are responding. You are not lost. You are in transition.
And this wildly uncomfortable, uncertain season — as destabilising as it feels — may be reshaping you into a version of yourself that could only emerge once the old scaffolding fell away.
Midlife is not always gentle.
But with the right guidance it is often transformative.
And sometimes what feels like everything falling apart is actually everything rearranging.
I am deeply committed to helping women move from confusion to clarity, from overwhelm to confidence, and from isolation to support.
You do not have to walk this alone. You do not have to feel powerless. This stage of life is not the end of your vitality; it is the beginning of a wiser, stronger version of you. And if you are ready, I would be honoured to walk that path with you.
Because this isn’t just about hormones. It’s about coming home to yourself — your body, your strength, your joy, your radiance.
With warmth and compassion,
Carli
